Canada – Sri Lanka Friendship Cup Launched.

Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, today welcomed Mr. Mohammed Jauhar Consul General of Sri Lanka and representatives of the Ontario Cricket Development Organization (OCDO) at the Mississauga Civic Centre, where Mayor Crombie received an official invitation to be the Chief Guest of the inaugural Canada–Sri Lanka Friendship Cup (CSLFC) cricket match.

The CSLFC cricket match is an event jointly organized by the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Toronto and the OCDO to mark Sri Lanka's 70th Anniversary of Independence and will be held on August 11th, 2018 at the Courtneypark Sports Complex located at 550 Courtneypark Drive West, Mississauga. Her Worship Mayor Bonnie Crombie will grace the occasion by leading a Mississauga World XI cricket team at the ceremonial opening game against the Sri Lanka Consul General's XI, comprising of Toronto consular representatives from cricket playing nations around the world. The objective of the event is to bring together various cricket loving communities and showcase the growth of cricket in Mississauga through a celebration of Sri Lanka, a country that has produced some of the greatest international cricket stars. "Our residents love cricket! Mississauga proudly operates seven cricket pitches across the City, and the popularity of this sport only continues to grow amongst our residents. We are pleased to support the Consulate General of Sri Lanka and Ontario Cricket Development Organization as they showcase cricket in Mississauga through the celebration of Sri Lanka's 70th Anniversary of Independence" said Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie.
